Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) are a set of incurable and disabling conditions arising due to progressive degeneration of brain neurons and their death. NDDs mostly occur in elders, but can, also, affect younger and middle-aged people. Although recent studies indicate brain glycolipid homeostasis and fine regulated glycolipid metabolic pathways, as important factors for NDDs prevention, the mechanism linking altered glycolipid metabolism with the onset and progression of NDDs is still unknown.
