  • Abstract:

    Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) are a set of incurable and disabling conditions arising due to progressive degeneration of brain neurons and their death. NDDs mostly occur in elders, but can, also, affect younger and middle-aged people. Although recent studies indicate brain glycolipid homeostasis and fine regulated glycolipid metabolic pathways, as important factors for NDDs prevention, the mechanism linking altered glycolipid metabolism with the onset and progression of NDDs is still unknown. The proposed bilateral project is focused on:

    • sequencing (deep profiling) glycolipidom from different regions of the brain and plasma of adult rats with early neurodegenerative changes;
    • detecting potential glycolipid markers of early neurodegenerative changes in the brain and plasma of adult rats with early neurodegenerative changes.
