In March 2014, Vinča Institute of Nuclear Science fulfilled all necessary conditions regarding the facility, equipment and professional training required for welfare of experimental animals and therefore was approved its inscription to Register of the facilities dealing with breeding, reproduction and conducting experiments on animals by Director of Veterinary Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
Experiments on animals are carried out in accordance with the approval issued by Minister based on professional opinion of Ethic Commission for protection of experimental animals’ welfare in Vinča Institute for Nuclear Science.
At the present time, we cultivate the rats (Rattus norvegicus), Wistar and SHP strain, and knock-out mice NR2A in a Vivarium.
The work in the Vivarium is organized and controlled by Marija Pantelic, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with the license to perform veterinary activities issued by Veterinary Chamber of Serbia.
